What is measured?
This test measures the following biomarker:
-
Chlamydia
Chlamydia trachomatis, is a common sexually transmitted bacterial infection in men and women. Chlamydia infection often does not present with symptoms but can lead to serious complications such as pelvic inflammatory disease, infertility, and increased risk of ectopic pregnancy. Test to detect Chlamydia infection early and prevent complications and reduce spread to sexual partners. Regular screening is recommended in sexually active individuals, especially those with new or multiple partners, to maintain sexual health and prevent transmission.
-
Gonorrhea
Neisseria gonorrhoeae causes Gonorrhea, a common STI. Gonorrhea can lead to serious health complications like pelvic inflammatory disease, infertility, and increased risk of ectopic pregnancy in women and epididymitis in men. Regular screening is recommended for sexually active individuals, especially those with new or multiple partners, to maintain sexual health and prevent transmission.
-

This screens for sexually transmitted infections caused by Trichomonas, a parasite. Checking for Trichomonas is advised for sexually active individuals with a specific focus on testing pregnant women. In pregnant women, trichomonas infections increase the risk of preterm birth and low infant birth weight.
-
Mycoplasma
Mycoplasma genitalium is a tiny bacterium that has no cell wall and that causes sexually transmitted infections and is increasingly antibiotic-resistant. In women, it can cause vaginal discharge, pelvic pain, pain during intercourse, intermenstrual bleeding, and cervicitis. In men, it typically causes urethritis, presenting as pain or burning during urination and penile discharge. Many infections are asymptomatic, making diagnosis and treatment imperative to prevent complications.
