This at-home lab test provides valuable insights into your kidney health by measuring urine albumin and creatinine levels and calculating the urine albumin-to-creatinine ratio. These results help detect early signs of kidney damage or dysfunction.
What is measured?
This test measures the following biomarker:
-
Urine Albumin
This test measures albumin, a protein, in your urine. Normally, your kidneys keep albumin in your blood, so finding it in urine can be an early sign of kidney stress or damage. Monitoring albumin can help protect your kidneys and support heart health.
-
Urine Creatinine
This test measures creatinine, a waste product from your muscles, in your urine. It helps show how well your kidneys are filtering waste and is used to make other urine tests, like albumin, more accurate.
-
Urine Albumin-to-Creatinine Ratio (UACR)
This test compares the amount of albumin to creatinine in your urine. It’s a simple way to detect early kidney damage, even when protein levels are low, and is useful for people with diabetes, high blood pressure, or other kidney risk factors. Keeping track of this ratio helps protect your kidneys and heart.
