PSA
The Prostate Specific Antigen (PSA) is a protein that is produced by the prostate gland and is secreted into the bloodstream. It serves as a critical method for assessing prostate health, for screening and monitoring prostate cancer, and it assists healthcare professionals in evaluating prostate health and guiding diagnostic and treatment strategies.
Who should take this test?
This test is suitable for:
- Men aged 18+ experiencing prostate issues: This includes symptoms like blood in semen, difficulty with urination, pelvic discomfort, and more
- Men over 50: Prostate cancer risk increases with age, so regular screening is recommended
- African American men: This demographic has a higher risk of developing prostate cancer
- Men with a family history of BRCA1 and BRCA2 mutations: These genes are linked to an increased risk of prostate cancer
How to test?
Before you begin:
- When you wake up, drink 12oz. of water and collect your blood sample 1 hour later.
- Avoid smoking for 1 full hour before collecting your blood sample.
- Wash your hands with soap in warm water, and then rub them together.
- Do some light exercise, like jumping jacks, to increase blood circulation.
Register your test ID online and collect your sample:
Scan the QR code inside your kit and follow the instructions to collect your sample.
After collection:
- Let your sample dry completely on card (2 hours).
- Mail test box the same day using the prepaid label. If you take your test on Sunday, mail it in first thing on Monday.

How often should I take this test?
Men age 50+:
Annual screening is recommended
Men with elevated PSA levels, a diagnosis of prostate cancer, or benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH):
More frequent testing may be necessary to monitor the disease's progression
Men with acute prostatitis:
This may not require regular testing once the condition is resolved
