What is measured?

This test measures the following biomarker:

  • Vitamin D

The Vitamin D test measures the level of 25-hydroxyvitamin D and is the most accurate indicator of your vitamin D status. Vitamin D enables absorption of calcium and phosphorus, which is essential for maintaining strong bones and preventing conditions like osteoporosis and rickets. Adequate vitamin D levels support kidney function by helping regulate calcium balance and may have a protective effect on cardiovascular health by contributing to normal heart function and managing inflammation.

  • Vitamin B12

Vitamin B12 is an important nutrient for making red blood cells, helping your metabolism function and keeping your nerves healthy. It also helps DNA formation. Low B12 can cause issues with your nerves and make you feel tired, weak, have problems with your balance, or lack of feeling in your arms and legs.

  • Folate

Folate testing is usually done to diagnose and monitor health conditions caused by folate deficiency, such as anemia, fatigue, and birth defects. Folate is a natural form of vitamin B9 found in green leafy vegetables, beans, and nuts. It is essential for DNA formation, red blood cell production, and cell growth.
